How To Draw A Squid. The squid is such a strange creature that it almost feels like it’s not on this earth. These strange creatures slither through our oceans in many shapes and sizes, and there have even been reports of a giant squid in the deepest depths. When something looks as weird as a squid, it can be harder to learn how to draw a squid if you don’t know what to do.
However, that’s what this tutorial you have here is for! You’ll have no problem drawing one if you read to the end. Our step-by-step guide on drawing a squid will show you everything you need to know to draw this fascinating animal. You can draw many more characters like cute drawing pictures, Anubis drawing, cat drawing, cobra drawing, blueberry drawing, coconut drawing and many more drawing for kids.
Step 1:
Starting this guide on how to draw a squid, we will start with the head. Many squids have large round eyes, and you can draw them using oval shapes with large pupils inside. Next, we’ll draw the extended top of the head above the eyes. This will make it look like you’re wearing a long hat, with pointed flaps sticking out from the sides. Then you are ready for the second step of the guide!
Step 2:
Squids have many twisted tentacles; we will start drawing them in this squid drawing step. Use curved lines extending below the head to start the tentacles, and you can also tweak the way they are placed a bit if you want. For the tentacles, where you will see their bases, you can draw lots of small circle shapes for the suction cups. Once you have drawn these first tentacles, you can complete this step by drawing some simple line details on the squid’s body.
Step 3:
Continuing what you started in the previous step of this guide on how to draw a squid, we will add more tentacles to the animal. First, start this step by drawing the rest of the tentacles you started but didn’t finish in the last step. Next, we’ll add a different tentacle type than the ones you drew earlier. This one will have a long, thin shank and end with a thick, pointed dotted section at the end. We’ll have a few more to add, so we can move on to Step 4 of the guide when you’re ready.
Step 4:
You can never have too many tentacles when creating a squid design, so we’ll add a few more in this part! First, draw another alternating tentacle with a long, thin stem with a thicker end. Once that’s drawn, you can add another part of the regular tentacle to one of the others you started earlier. Before we get to the final coloring step, there will be a few final details to add, so let’s cover those details in the next part!
Step 5:
This step in our guide on how to draw a squid will be to complete those final touches before coloring it. It will also be possible to add more details of your choice! Before that, let’s add the finishing touches. These will mainly consist of a few extra regular tentacles sticking out of the empty spaces left on the squid. Once these have been drawn and detailed, you are ready to move on! Before doing so, be sure to add any additional details or ideas. One idea would be to draw the background; if you did that, you could incorporate all the other sea creatures you like. You could even turn it into a giant squid by drawing it on an unlucky ship! What other ideas do you have for finishing it? We can’t wait to see your creative ideas for this image!
Step 6:
For the last part of this squid drawing, you can finish it off with some color. We chose beautiful shades of pink in our reference image to finish our image. The good news is that squid can be any color you can imagine! This gives you a lot of freedom in how you can color this one. No color is off-limits, so this is your chance to let your color creativity run free! Once you have chosen your colors, you can choose the artistic tools and media you will use to achieve them. You can opt for painting mediums like acrylic, watercolor, colored markers, pencils, or crayons. These are just a few options, so what will you use to complete this fantastic design?
